The research topic will be the development of MRI-based biomarkers of age-related brain pathologies using deep learning. Successful candidates should have a strong background in Electrical or Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics. Students with machine learning background are particularly encouraged to apply. A strong programming background (e.g. Matlab, Python, C or C++) is required. Experience on medical image analysis is desirable. Please apply to the Ph.D. program in BME at IIT and include in your personal statement your desire to work with Dr. Arfanakis.
Undergraduate students from BME, ECE, Physics, Psychology and other departments at IIT (any year) with an interest in brain imaging research are welcome to apply at any time by e-mail. Please submit your unofficial transcript along with your application. High GPA is required.
The successful candidates will be part of a multidisciplinary team of researchers including MR physicists, biomedical engineers, electrical engineers, computer scientists, neurologists, neuropsychologists, neuropathologists, neuroradiologists, neurobiologists, and biostatisticians.
